State troopers say that five people became injured in an accident involving two vehicles on the Massachusetts Turnpike. The crash happened shortly after 5 a.m. on April 26 in Charlton after a westbound Cadillac CTS ran into the back of a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Three of the Cadillac occupants were ejected. Suffering serious injuries, they were transported to a Worcester hospital via ambulance.

Massachusetts authorities have announced that they will not bring charges against the driver who hit and severely injured a 22-year-old woman in Northampton in December. However, the victim’s parents allege that her injuries were made worse by the driver’s failure to quickly stop her vehicle after the collision.
On March 20, it was reported that three people, including a 16-year-old Massachusetts boy, were injured in car crash. According to the Massachusetts State Police, the crash was caused by a 56-year-old woman who crashed into another a Honda Civic on McGrath Highway while suffering from a medical emergency. Reports initially stated that the crash occurred at 7:15 a.m., but officials released information saying that the crash happed at 8 a.m.
On March 9, Massachusetts State Police reported that a 22-year-old Taunton resident was killed in a car accident. The crash, which happened on the Massachusetts Turnpike at approximately 8:40 a.m., reportedly involved the deceased woman’s SUV and a tractor-trailer.
An early morning automobile accident in New Bedford, Massachusetts, resulted in the untimely death of a 22-year-old passenger. The driver, a 19-year-old girl, survived with only minor injuries.
Winter weather led to a Framingham crash that took place on Feb. 20 on the Massachusetts Turnpike. The turnpike was closed after the accident, which involved a snowbank and tractor-trailer.
Around 11:15 a.m.Jan. 10, officials were called to the scene of a five-car hit-and-run incident in Barnstable. The driver of a Ford Econoline van was arrested later when local police located him in a hospital parking lot shortly after the incidents occurred.
Distracted driving occurs in all 50 states, including Massachusetts. Any time a driver does anything that takes their attention off the road and safely piloting the vehicle, distracted driving occurs. Some examples of such behavior include tuning a radio, reading or responding to a text message, talking on a cell phone, applying makeup, and eating or drinking. Distracted driving is one of the most prevalent causes of auto accidents and results in thousands of injuries nationally each year.
An accident occurred on Interstate 495 north that claimed the life of a 28-year-old man at 2:45 p.m. on Dec. 20. The man’s car had apparently broken down near exit 46. According to Massachusetts police, he was standing outside and to the front of his 2004 Lexus when a 1999 Dodge Durango hit the Lexus, causing both vehicles to strike the man standing along the highway. The exact reason for the crash was not immediately known. Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services are responsible for investigating the crash further.
