Massachusetts fatal automobile accident

An early morning automobile accident in New Bedford, Massachusetts, resulted in the untimely death of a 22-year-old passenger. The driver, a 19-year-old girl, survived with only minor injuries. Following the accident, the teenager told authorities that there was snow in the roadway. To avoid hitting it, she swerved and hit the guardrail instead. The automobile then rolled over. The passenger was fatally injured and died at the scene. The driver was transported to a local hospital and released shortly after. This was a single car accident with no one else involved. The crash is being investigated by multiple groups of authorities, including the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the Massachusetts State police Detectives Unit. No charges have been filed. In a situation where a person is injured or killed in an automobile accident, there are several legal issues that come into perspective. Authorities may need to determine if a driver was at fault, whether there were drugs and alcohol involved, the extent of the injuries suffered and whether or not laws were broken. An injured plaintiff or the family of a deceased plaintiff, may want to talk to a lawyer about potential compensation for damages stemming from the incident, which might include medical expenses or lost wages. To help explore whether the driver was negligent and what compensation rights may be, a personal injury attorney may be helpful. This attorney may be able to help the family review the details of the accident and determine what type of compensation, if any, they might be eligible to receive.
