Sexual Abuse
More Compensation In Your Pocket
Some lawyers negotiate accident settlements and walk away with their fees, knowing that those clients will have to pay their doctor bills from the proceeds. At Aiken and Aiken P.C. Personal Injury Attorneys, we coordinate benefits and negotiate with providers to reduce medical expenses. Our goal is to have all medical costs paid at the conclusion of the case, so that every dollar of the insurance settlement goes to the client and family. We provide this service at no additional cost because we believe it is the right thing to do.
Vindicating the Rights of Sexual Abuse Victims
Few things are as crushing as being a victim of sexual abuse. Those subjected to sexual abuse or assault at the hands of teachers, priests, psychiatrists, coaches or family members are left emotionally scarred and traumatized for life.
At Aiken and Aiken P.C. Personal Injury Attorneys, we know how difficult it is for victims of sexual abuse to come forward and share their story. Sexual abuse can impact someone’s development, ability to form trusting relationships and in some cases, even lead to thoughts of suicide. We find this simply unacceptable. We aggressively pursue abusers, refusing to let them slip into the shadows without paying for what they have done to you or your loved one.
To schedule a free consultation with a compassionate Massachusetts sexual abuse attorney, call (508) 534-8061 or toll free (800) 401-4186. You can also contact our law firm online. With offices in Boston, Hyannis and Falmouth, we represent clients from Boston to Cape Cod and the Islands.
Break the Silence: Take the First Step
The statute of limitations on sexual abuse cases involving adults is three years. However, in cases involving the sexual abuse of minors including child rape or molestation, the statute of limitations is extended 35 years from the date of the abuse or 7 years from the time one reasonably realizes they have been harmed by the abuse – whichever is later. In cases involving repressed memories, the statute of limitations can be extended. Coming forward and talking with a lawyer can be the first step toward rebuilding your life.
Our attorneys will coordinate with law enforcement, file for restraining orders if necessary and undertake all investigative work required to uncover the facts of your case and protect your legal rights. We work with psychologists, investigators and economic impact analysts to determine your pain and suffering and loss in quality of life due to your abuse. We will help you file a complaint with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD).
Although no amount of money can make up for what happened, a successful lawsuit can give you the funds you need to pay for treatment and help you move forward.
Challenging the Defense
We realize sexual abuse cases can be very painful for the victim − especially when the other side claims that the victim is suffering from false memory syndrome. We have represented a number of clients in these kinds of cases and work with nationally recognized medical and psychiatric experts who undermine the claims of the defense.
We understand the psychological, medical and legal issues involved in a sexual abuse claim. We know how to build strong, convincing cases designed to secure compensation for our clients.
