Massachusetts Turnpike crash kills 1, injures 1

On March 9, Massachusetts State Police reported that a 22-year-old Taunton resident was killed in a car accident. The crash, which happened on the Massachusetts Turnpike at approximately 8:40 a.m., reportedly involved the deceased woman’s SUV and a tractor-trailer. Authorities stated that the woman was driving east in a 2009 Honda Element when she crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic. The Honda collided with a tractor-trailer that was being driven west by a 52-year-old woman. The collision caused the driver of the Honda to be thrown from her vehicle. She ultimately succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was airlifted to a nearby hospital though the extent of her injuries were not reported. It was not known what caused the crash though authorities reported that the deceased woman had lost control of the vehicle. Authorities were still investigating the incident at the time of the report. A driver may cause a motor vehicle accident if they are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, fail to pay attention to the roadway or even if they suffer a medical emergency. However, it is often the case that the other driver involved in the wreck played some part in causing the crash. There is no indication here, however, that the truck driver was negligent.A personal injury attorney may assist an injured client by examining police reports and other evidence in order to show that another driver’s negligence was the cause of the accident. The attorney can also gather hospital bills and other information in order to determine the amount of damages to pursue.
