School employee charged with sexually assaulting boy, 15

Sexual abuse is a serious topic that is difficult to think about. This is especially true when the victim of sexual abuse is a minor. However, it is important that these issues come to light, not only to aid in the victim’s recovery process but also to prevent further instances of abuse. A 15-year-old Massachusetts boy was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 36-year-old female food service employee who worked at the boy’s middle school. The assaults allegedly occurred during the months of December and November at the victim’s family’s residence during holiday celebrations. According to the woman’s attorneys the woman was depressed and had engaged in substance abuse, both of which may have caused her to make an error in judgment. The woman was arrested and has been charged with four counts of statutory rape. She has also been placed on leave from her job. The woman was allegedly friends with one of the boy’s parents. Investigators are looking into whether a second boy related to the woman was also sexually assaulted.Victims of sexual abuse deserve compensation, particularly when the victim is a child. In addition to any physical injuries suffered, the emotional trauma following such acts can devastate a victim for years to come. Criminal charges aside, there may be civil remedies available to victims of sexual abuse. By filing a lawsuit, victims may be able to seek compensation for the harms they suffered.In some situations, the person who abuses a child is not necessarily a stranger, but an acquaintance or even a family member that the child knows. It is important, then, that prompt legal action is taken to hold the responsible parties accountable for their misconduct.
