Driver of SUV charged for fatal motorcycle crash

A 45-year-old man who was accused of causing a fatal accident in Massachusetts was taken into police custody, and he was charged with two counts of homicide on Aug. 28. According to the press release, the incident took place on Route 5 in Easthampton. Authorities stated that the incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. near East Street. Sources indicate that the man was driving an SUV when he hit a motorcycle. Both individuals who were riding the motorcycle died as a result of the impact. The man suffered injuries that were described as not life-threatening, and he was taken to the Baystate Medical Center where officers later detained him. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 29. Since motorcyclists are not well-protected against the forces involved in a crash, they may be more likely to suffer serious injuries such as head trauma, abrasions, road rash and fractured bones. In some cases, the occupants of a motorcycle may die as a result of the injuries that they suffered. In the event that a loved one dies in a wreck, his or her family could pursue compensation for their financial losses through a wrongful death claim. Eligible family members could be recompensed for the deceased’s hospital expenses, funeral costs and lost financial support. An attorney might be able to help the loved ones determine the total amount in damages that they may be able to seek. Additionally, he or she could assist with any settlement negotiations with the liable driver’s insurance company.
