A fatal car accident in the eastern Massachusetts town of Northbridge has led to charges of vehicular homicide against one of the drivers. The accident happened at 2:20 p.m. on Dec. 9.
Massachusetts residents who have been following the sexual assault allegations involving Bill Cosby may be interested to learn about a lawsuit that was recently filed against the actor. On Dec. 2, a woman who claims she was sexually assaulted by the comedian in 1974 filed a lawsuit against him in Los Angeles Superior Court.
A 71-year-old Massachusetts man experienced a close call on Dec. 11 when a car crashed through the wall of his bedroom and came to a stop just beside his bed. The accident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on Vernon St. in Worcester.
A serious traffic accident in Canton on Dec. 4 left four people with injuries. Authorities reported that the incident involved two vehicles and took place in the northbound lanes of Route 95 near exit 11.
In 2012, almost 5,000 motorcyclists were killed in traffic accidents nationwide, and 90,000 more were injured. The total number of fatalities reflects a 7 percent increase over the total motorcycle fatalities in 2011. A total of 333 vehicle fatalities occurred in Massachusetts in 2012; 47 of them were motorcycle fatalities. Motorcycle drivers and passengers are about 26 percent more likely to die in a crash compared to other types of vehicles.
According to authorities, Massachusetts State Police troopers sought an arrest warrant for a 45-year-old East Bridgewater man for allegedly causing a fatal head-on collision on Cape Cod on Nov. 18. The man will be summoned to appear in court for charges related to the incident.

Whiplash most commonly happens to people whose stationary vehicle has been rear-ended by another vehicle. The force of such an impact can cause the victim’s upper and lower neck bones to move past their normal range of motion. While the upper neck bones move one way, the lower neck bones move another way, resulting in the victim’s cervical spine becoming S-shaped.
